Japanese students training at Chuwattana Gym, Bangkok, Thailand, 2009 Have you ever known you could have pushed just a little harder during training? Have you ever left the gym wondering why you even showed up? I suspect most of us have been there. For whichever reason(s), we experience days that disappoint, days we didn't realize our performance expectations, days where our general motivation lagged. Having lived and trained in Muay Thai in Thailand, I learned an invaluable practice which the general fitness enthusiast and athlete alike can benefit from: the art of not complaining. During training, questioning our trainers was frowned upon, as was complaining, both in our words and in … [Read more...]

muay thai

It sometimes feels impossible to make time to workout. This isn't just about Muay Thai or Martial Arts training, this is about any sort of training, aka the stuff you could have done when you didn't have time to make it to a proper class. You know how it is, you skip one day, then another, then it's been a few weeks since you made it to a class or off your couch. Obligations, in addition to stress often build up, as do the excuses we make. This is undeniably normal given the (sometimes?) crazy demands of our lives. Often, what'll help us out of our stress fueled, exhaustion laced, excuse ridden black hole is improving our time management skills. So here are ten time management tips to help … [Read more...]

Price Fighter is Amazon’s Fight Gear Store You Need to Know

May 2, 2019 By Laura Dal Farra 3 Comments

fight gear

Finding the fight gear you want online can be challenging. Whether it’s availability, pricing, or delivery wait times to deal with, the right mix doesn’t always happen. In the past, I’ve ordered directly from Thailand because I couldn’t find gear in my size at a price that was reasonable. (Fight gear pricing can get outrageous, and although I like the idea of having gear that I love, I really hate the idea of being exploited.) It took almost two months for my order to be processed, shipped, and arrive at my doorstep. I also didn’t have a tracking number, so I had no idea when it was going to arrive.  I just had to trust that my equipment had shipped and that it was authentic. … [Read more...]

On October 20th, 2018, Muay Thai champion Pascal Schroth, stepped into a ring in China to defend his K1 title under what he believed to be regular kickboxing rules. For the 25 year old champion, this bout was just another day at the office. So on that Saturday night, despite the language barrier, the confusion, and the shady promoters, Schroth walked inside the ring but would have to carried out.   Schroth vs. Meng: Timeline of Events October 2017 at … [Read more...]
