The following is based on a round trip booking from Windsor to Toronto, ON, Canada in October and November 2012. The flight takes approximately one hour in each direction.
Service
From the first attendant encountered until the last, the service at Porter Airlines was nothing less than impeccable. Each interaction was with a polite, calm and competent individual. My impression was that people actually enjoy their careers at Porter Airlines and in effect, were wonderful to deal with. Other airlines should perhaps pay attention.
Wait Times
When I arrived in Toronto I rode the ferry from Toronto Island, where Porter is located, followed by the shuttle bus to The Fairmont Royal York hotel in the downtown area. Each transition was fluid with minimal wait times. This was also true of my return trip. Wait times at security check points and at ticket booths were minimal. There are plenty of staff employed at Porter and coming from someone who has done her fair share of travelling, it is dually noted and appreciated.
Amenities
I was shocked to receive a sandwich, a snack and choice of drink on a one hour flight. I was equally as shocked that the food looked wonderful compared to other airlines I had flown (I was unable to eat my sandwich due to allergies but the guy sitting beside me was more than happy with his and mine). Upon reaching the Toronto lounge area I had thought I had mistakenly shown up in the VIP waiting area. No. It was just that good.
In short, based on this trip, I can’t think of anything to remotely criticize regarding Porter Airlines (their pricing is also reasonable).
I’ll sum it up with this: Porter is perhaps one of my favourite airlines I’ve ever dealt with.
