Hello Pig!!(Gies),

Buriram – Mukdahan – Over The Friendship Bridge – Hello Savannakhet, Laos. – Mukdahan.

Savannakhet is a mellow little place and is the only place, other than cities within close proximity, (i.e. Surin) that remind me of Buriram. I wonder if this is similar to what Buriram looked like 5+ years ago??

To Note:  Upon arriving at the hotel in Mukdahan, the guy working laughed while speaking to me. Apparently I was speaking Isaan.  This further puts things together as I thought I was speaking Thai.??  Let’s see what happens when I get out of Isaan and Laos….

Hoongthip Hotel, Savannakhet, Laos, 2011

Above: An approximate $18 USD hotel room in Savannakhet.

Above: The Hoongthip Hotel was incredibly sparse. This pic, of the dining room was taken at approximately midnight. It was almost directly across from my room. I believe there were only two of us, each with our own room, on the entire floor.

Above: The hallway directly outside of my room, taken at approximately midnight. This in conjunction with the dining room and the lack of people kept eliciting flashbacks of The Shining.

Above: After taking the previous two photos, I came back to my room to find blood on my pillow. Comparing with previous shots of the bed, the blood is mine, although I couldn’t find anywhere on my body it could have come from. I slept with the lights on.

About Laura Dal Farra

After a six month adventure training Muay Thai in Thailand in 2007, Laura Dal Farra returned to her native Canada, sold most of what she owned, and boarded a plane set for Bangkok alone. She spent the next 3.5 years training in traditional Muay Thai gyms, pushing her limits, and embracing the unknown. Realizing little was being written on the subject, she began to blog about it. Laura Dal Farra is the founder of Milk.Blitz.Street.Bomb.
