It’s the New MBSB

November 12, 2012 By Laura Dal Farra 2 Comments

Its-The-New-MBSB

This segment is best enjoyed after hitting play on the video below.  I’m looking for ambiance here….

Hey People,

Today marks the launch of the new Milk.Blitz.Street.Bomb. (aka milkblitzstreetbomb aka MBSB).

It’s MBSB redesign party time.

I’ve spent the last month plus working on this baby. I liked the old site but it was time for some change.  As MBSB is expanding I wanted the design to reflect its growth and make the content you want easily accessible.

New Features

  • A new homepage that highlights specific categories.

  • A responsive design that adapts to whichever device you’re checking MBSB out on.

  • A Current Location indicator. When MBSB first began I was centered in Thailand.  Currently, I seem to be all over the place. I realized this may be confusing to readers as one week I’m posting about Thailand, the next I’m highlighting photos of Detroit.

  • A Galleries section showcasing all of MBSB’s best photos.

I’d love to hear what you like about the new design.

If you find a broken link or any other functional issue, please let me know via the contact page.  Thanks!

Otherwise……yay!

……To the future.

About Laura Dal Farra

After a six month adventure training Muay Thai in Thailand in 2007, Laura Dal Farra returned to her native Canada, sold most of what she owned, and boarded a plane set for Bangkok alone. She spent the next 3.5 years training in traditional Muay Thai gyms, pushing her limits, and embracing the unknown. Realizing little was being written on the subject, she began to blog about it. Laura Dal Farra is the founder of Milk.Blitz.Street.Bomb.

Woot woot, feeling the virtual design party! First things first, the font type you used is stunning, I like it a lot! Clean, simple, and effective, just like your Muay Thai technique hah!

As for the top gallery/directory area, I don’t like that it doesn’t navigate fairly easy. If you click on ‘nomadic’ or ‘muay thai’, it opens up a new page and proceeds with the classic list of 5 posts and then forces you have to next page it. To me, I find this a bit annoying, especially if I was a newcomer. Is there a way you can design it so that, when I click on “+Muay Thai’, it will open an archive of all of the postings without opening a new page? It just seems a bit tedious and makes me lost on how to navigate through all the pages when I do click on a category.

Also, I feel there could be a better way to partition your categories. It’s a given that your blog is about travelling, nomadic life, Thailand, and Muay Thai, your blog is much more complex than a typical expat/traveller blog. You delve into the psychology, sexuality, and language of Thailand. Hmm, I’m not sure how you should go about it, but that’s something for you to think about.

To sum it up, you have many interesting distinct posts topics that are not visible from the beginning. As a follower, I know you have deeper posts…I know you can figure a way to display this some how to a first-time or even a long time reader. You should definitely have an about-me page that says a little bit more of your background and motives/ambition.

    hey dan!

    1. a completely agree with your thoughts on the archives listing excerpts rather than a list. that being said, i haven’t been able to find an alternative other than full post archives. this includes trying to install working plugins. anyone out there a developer? lol.

    2. the start here page now has a list of mbsb’s most popular and deeper posts which i hope newcomers and long time readers will find useful.

    3. the about me page is listed as the intro. http://www.milkblitzstreetbomb.com/intro/

    thanks for your support!
