Part 4

Reviewing my past entries, what I seem to have failed to post was the healing of my hip. If memory serves me correctly, the rejuvenation occurred sometime during the period the above was filmed and prior to my next entry.
Details:
I went to visit the blind massage service I had faithfully been frequenting. On this particular occasion I remember lying placidly during my massage with the largest of the men diligently working on me. I was on my back when he lifted my torso and quickly rotated my spine. Something snapped. The feeling alarmed me as it wasn’t akin to anything I had felt during my many visits to chiropractors in the West.
Instantly I knew something incredible had occurred. At present time of writing, I don’t recall if it was that evening, the following day, or perhaps the next when I felt for the first time in years, freedom from chronic pain.
This event significantly impacted me. It validated what I had known within but with time and faith in those around me, had questioned. Namely:
sometimes external prognoses are but an opinion.

Got to the goods at part 4! hah its okay, i like the written series. it’s just that I was waiting for you to get cracking on the hip injury segment.
About 3 years ago I trained Muay Thai for about a year. I would bike 5 miles there, jump right into skipping rope, drilling, hitting pads, and then bike home right when class finished. I never took the time to stretch and my hip has been chronically hampering my martial arts flexibility. It’s right around the outside of my hip socket and the micro-muscles connected to it, but i am unable to pull the trigger on a mid-high thai roundhouse.
I was just wondering if you investigated what treatment you received with that awesome back-cracker in Thailand. I’ve been doing self massage via foam rolling and a lacrosse ball and doing static stretches but these are not seeing results with changes in my regiment. any suggestions Laura?

The series isn’t over yet….it’s a long one, I’m still building up. Lol!
In regards to the hip (sorry you’re dealing with it….), he was, as far as I know, doing traditional Thai massage. That being said, not all Thai massage is the same. Chiang Mai is renowned, among Thais as well, for incredible massage. I could be wrong, but I don’t currently remember anyone trying to crack my back as he did again….?
I tried the self massage via foam roller as well and used a tennis ball. I didn’t have any luck either. Have you tried yoga? I found that certain poses aggravated my injury (in a general class) but hitting a restorative yoga class helped ease the pain. Swimming breast-stroke also strengthened the area.
The final post in this series will deal with other things I tried and what worked for me. At this point in time, I can say, don’t give up and try a number of things. Perhaps it’s a combination of things as opposed to one thing that will do it. Listen to your body.

And for a shallow comment from one of your female readers (me!): wow Laura, you look great! You kind of remind me of Jillian Michaels in a lot of ways from your short video, and I think she’s gorgeous so that’s a good thing!
