Mark Strong
This year’s Travel Blog Exchange (TBEX) Toronto is up at the end of the month and the city’s Mr. Everywhere Mark Strong was kind enough to answer a few questions about traveling to Toronto. Some info on Mark:

Mark Strong is the co-host of G98.7 FM‘s morning show Mark And Jem In The Morning, the in arena host of the Toronto Raptors and the in stadium host of Toronto’s Argonauts. He’s also the host of NBA XL.

Mark’s previous endeavors have included being the live voice of The Juno Awards (Canada’s music awards) and Canada’s Walk of Fame.  He was the warm-up talent for TV’s Deal or No Deal (with host Howie Mandel), Are You Smarter than a Canadian 5th Grader (with host Collin Mochrie) and The Next Star Finale.

His humble beginnings have included crossing paths with me back in ’99 while we were both working at an online streaming media company. Mark was an online personality and I was a chick of all trades in the office doing anything from general admin drone work to filming bands at shows to finding myself sitting in on Mark’s show.

How would you describe the fabric of the city of Toronto for newcomers?

TDOT has an acceptance of celebration like no other. This acceptance allows Toronto to be an interwoven celebration of life, culture, religion, art, music, sports, entertainment, lifestyle and choices. Once you come to Toronto, you become part of Toronto’s pride.

Toronto has so much local talent in the entertainment field; what can travelers who are looking to tap into this do?

The entertainment field stems from 2-3 sold out shows for tens of thousands a night in the Rogers Centre or Air Canada Centre, to a night at the 600 person packed Rivoli, Revival, Opera House, Phoenix, etc that house some of the biggest most respected names in the industry or underground the world has ever known. Then there are the Harbourfront, Downsview Park, Beaches festivals that cater to the outdoor open atmosphere of music, dance, plays of our local and international scene.

And sports…any recommendations on what to check out?

This city has an dedicated passion to sports. You can again find it at the massive draws from professional teams like the NBA Raptors, NHL Maple Leafs, MLB Blue Jays, Toronto Football Club to the National gems like the Toronto Argonauts Football, Toronto Marlies Hockey, Toronto Rock Lacrosse. All these and more have the same love for the sport as the they do the city they live in.

About Laura Dal Farra

After a six month adventure training Muay Thai in Thailand in 2007, Laura Dal Farra returned to her native Canada, sold most of what she owned, and boarded a plane set for Bangkok alone. She spent the next 3.5 years training in traditional Muay Thai gyms, pushing her limits, and embracing the unknown. Realizing little was being written on the subject, she began to blog about it. Laura Dal Farra is the founder of Milk.Blitz.Street.Bomb.
