What was/is an average training day for you like at Baan Singto?

I arrive at 6pm and train jujitsu and at eight o’clock Muay Thai.

And at Chicago Fight Team?

Every day is different but usually arrive 7pm, train stand-up and at 8pm wrestling and grappling.

How would you compare fighting in Mexico to fighting in the U.S.?

The biggest difference is the wrestling in the US is more advanced.

I come from the country of the best strikers of the world so the striking isn’t much of a concern for me.

I can hold my own with anybody standing.

What about your Muay Thai game, did you have to adapt to fit into MMA?

I had to be more careful with my kicks to avoid the takedowns and I had to adapt my clinch as well for MMA.

What has been your greatest challenge?

Coming to a new country and learning a different way of fighting that I am accustomed to.

And source of joy?

My family who proudly supports me.

Who has been your toughest opponent?

Ismael Escobedo. He hit really hard and he was a better boxer than me.

What can we look forward to from Horacio Gutiérrez?

Success and world titles in MMA and to be the UFC featherweight champion.

About Laura Dal Farra

After a six month adventure training Muay Thai in Thailand in 2007, Laura Dal Farra returned to her native Canada, sold most of what she owned, and boarded a plane set for Bangkok alone. She spent the next 3.5 years training in traditional Muay Thai gyms, pushing her limits, and embracing the unknown. Realizing little was being written on the subject, she began to blog about it. Laura Dal Farra is the founder of Milk.Blitz.Street.Bomb.
